PHANAEL is an alternative R&B artist whose work lives in the space between intimacy and endurance. Drawing from multiple lineages: from Black, Filipino, Malay, Indonesian, and Indigenous cultures, he creates music that treats memory as a living instrument: layered, imperfect, and capable of carrying a person forward.

Raised by rhythm, story, and the discipline of listening, PHANAEL developed an early relationship with music as both refuge and language. R&B became a natural home not because it could contain every influence, but because it left space for contradiction. His writing moves through soulful cadence, pop reach, and ancestral echo without flattening any one of them.

After a period shaped by illness, recovery, and a long silence, PHANAEL returned to music with a renewed sense of purpose. This is a restoration: a decision to sing again, to make room for tenderness, and to let the parts of the story that were once hidden become part of the art. That perspective gives his work a distinct emotional clarity. Even at its most expansive, it remains grounded in the human details of grief, resilience, desire, and the slow work of becoming whole.
